In the workshop of small pleasures of the King

In the movie " Vattel " Joffre Rolland, we we are seeing all the preparations that Prince Conde put in place to receive the king's pleasure: creative cuisine and royal decor, all orchestrated masterfully by his steward Vattel.
Exposure "In the workshop of small pleasures of the King," presented at the National Archives until April 24, 2011, illustrates the work of design and decor for performances, festivals and ceremonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, for the pleasure of the King!
A selection of 130 works on paper, mostly unpublished, mostly from the holdings of the Royal Household in the National Archives brought the visitors behind the scenes of the lavish shows, festivals and ceremonies royal. The service
Revels, responsible for organizing and fund performances and celebrations of the Court employed the best artists and technicians of his time, to imagine and design the sets, costumes, machinery and accessories may cause the amazement of spectators. The Revels were also solicited for the staging of large funeral ceremonies, whose exuberance even invited to meditate on the vanity of human glory. This exhibition opened to mark the tercentenary of the death of Jean Berain (1640 - 1711), designer of the Cabinet of the King has largely put his talents to the Revels. She is also the launch of the full eight books composed in 1752 by Antoine Angelica Levesque, store-keeper of Revels, to gather about 800 drawings and prints of the best artists of royal celebrations and performances in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries : Next to Deruet, Gissey, Berain, Sevin, Meissonier and brothers Slodtz Italians Torelli, Vigarani, Pizzoli, Algieri and Servandoni.La selection presented allows the wonderful taste of French opera, to admire the great festivals Versailles and impressive decorations in the setting of time that constitute the rock shows of the Hotel de Soubise. It is projected
easily in these gorgeous scenery, with fine food!
